As someone who has owned and operated an Automatic Transmission workshop of 30 years I can assure I have seen and heard most of the stories relating to why ….it just blew up.

The answer to the first question is not painful, however the answer to the second question oftentimes puts people as close to a state of shock as you can get without being hospitalised.
With modern cars and in particular modern European cars with advanced technology the costs can be horrendous if you put off until tomorrow what you should do today in terms of maintenance.

Here are five simple steps to help you get top performance from your car and save money.
Have your cars transmission looked by a professional every 20,000 km, 13,000 miles. The cost ….maybe $100
If you are towing a trailer or van for any prolonged period have a professional fit an oil cooler to your transmission. This will save you a major expense because if your car’s transmission over heats ….look out for your wallet or purse whatever the case.
If you notice you car begin to take a little extra time before going into gear …take it to a service centre to be checked and no that’s not in 12 months.

Don’t think that the standard mechanical service covers your Automatic Transmission because it does not. Most motor mechanics would not know where to start with the modern transmission and in addition to that many modern transmissions are sealed.
